I was in the mood for a boba drink and remembered there was some drink shop in the food court off of mira mesa and camino santa fe. I dont remember what it was called but i think it might have been quickly or something with a “q”…
well anyway, i got there and discovered that quicklys was no longer there and had been replaced by another drink shop called Ocha Cafe. Upon entering the restaurant, i was warmly welcomed and introduced to something they call the “rice burger.”
bam! your choice of either beef, chicken or tofu on a bed of rice molded into the shape of hamburger buns. i decided to get the beef along with the combo of grape tea and fries.

Beef Rice Burger w/ Spicy Sauce ($7.00?)
The fries were hot, fresh, and crispy. It was pretty good in the beginning but then i started to get tired of it. There was too much seasoning towards the bottom. As for the Beef Rice Burger, it was good, interesting, and quite innovative. I havent seen a rice burger anywhere else and they claim to be the only ones who make it.
The owner recommended that I try the chicken rice burger next time, which I most certainly will.

COOL…I miss eating rice burgers. I always hoped that they open a MOSSES BURGER (a Japanese chain fastfood place) in the US, because their rice burgers are the BEST…I better go and try out this place, and I’ll post my taste results.

The chicken rice burger with spicy sauce is awesome! My husband had the beef rice burger, but I liked the chicken much better. The chicken meat was tender and not overcooked, with plenty of moisture and flavor. The rice patty was nicely peppered with sesame seeds and was married perfectly with the chicken, some lettuce and tomato. The fries had an interesting seasoning, but wilted a little on the car ride home, but I didn’t mind after I took one bite of the sandwich. I also had the lychee slushee dolled up with very fresh pearls of boba and by the owner’s recommendation, some coconut. The green tea smoothie with boba was also a hit - very refreshing and yummy! Overall the meal was very delicious and I’m happy to say this little place is very deserving of a return visit! At first the combo price of $8.95 seemed a little steep, for sandwich fare, but in the end I deemed it to be fairly reasonable, given the size of the boba drinks and the fact that my hunger was well sated until dinner time.
