It’s been a while since I’ve written a review. There are too many things going on at home but I think I’ve gotten a handle on them. This review has been waiting in dormant for about a month now (has it been that long?!) and it is now ready for the public!

My friend Tim had recently purchased a new camera lens (Canon EF 50mm f/1.2) and had wanted to test it out with a couple of shots. But I was too hungry to go and find things to photograph and so I suggested for him to take pictures of food instead!

Sweet and Sour Shrimp ~$6.00 (Photographed by me!)

Theres a lunch special here that includes a meal with a free boba drink. Its your choice of either Black or Green Tea. (Drink upgrades at an additional cost.)

I was slightly disappointed with this entree. The shrimp was good and all; cooked just right, juicy, and tender, but it wasn’t perfect. It had sweetness but there was no sour!! Oh my. Nether less, the vegetables were good and the sprouts too. Overall, it was a decent meal and filled me up quite well.

Kung Pao Chicken ~$6.00 (Photographed by Tim Doan)

I tried a little bit of Tim’s entree, the Kung Pao Chicken. And damn, it was much better than what I ordered…

Tea Station Wall Tea Station

Ok I admit it… I’m a tea addict. I’m starting to become a regular at Tea Station. When you walk in the door you get a nice greeting from their automatic censor that says “ni hao”. The drinks are a little pricier than most tea shops, but I really enjoy this place. I don’t mind paying one or two dollars extra because the service is good and the atmosphere is nice and quiet.

Tea Station Tables lychee-ice-jelly.JPG

My friend got the lychee ice jelly. This time they made the drink a lot better. The lychee juice wasn’t too overpowering and it had just the right amount of sweetness. The sweetness was subtle enough, that you could finish the whole drink. The added jelly and boba made it enjoyable to drink as well.

Hot Almond Milk Tea Tea Cup

I felt like having a hot drink, so I ordered the hot almond milk tea. The drink came in a large urn, with a small spoon to ladle the drink into the tea cups. I was a bit saddened because they didn’t give me a tea pot this time. I had gotten a tea pot last time I ordered a hot milk tea drink. It was pretty relaxing while I was ladling the tea into the individual tea cups. The blend of flavors in the drink was well mixed. There was a hint of almond in the drink and the sweetness was just right. To my surprise the drink had some body to it and It coated my tastebuds just perfectly.

Stay tuned for when I visit the Clairemont Mesa Tea Station!

After an awesome game of soccer I am extremely thirsty. So I decide to call my friend Hanh and ask her if she wants to go grab something to drink. She tells me, she was just about to head out with her cousin to get some tea. How ironic! We decided that we would meet up at Tea Station.

passion-fruit-jelly-juice.JPG

I ordered the passion fruit shaved ice jelly. It has boba, jelly, shaved ice, and passion fruit juice. The drink was really sweet. After a couple of sips, It got really sweet and I wanted a different drink. I was really thirsty, so I kept on drinking. The shaved ice definitely helped cut down on the sweetness.

Mango Shaved Ice sweet-butter-toast.JPG

My friend Hanh ordered the mango shaved ice and sweet butter toast. The mango shaved ice is basically shaved ice drenched with condensed milk and mango. It was really fun to eat because you get the shaved ice and a hint of sweetness from the condensed milk and mango. The sweet butter toast was really sugary. It was a layer of butter and sugar melted onto this square sized toast.

Strawberry Yogurt Smoothie

coconut-grass-jelly.JPG

Hanh’s cousin ordered the strawberry yogurt slushy and her friend Chris ordered the coconut grass jelly. The coconut grass jelly was quite a site when the waitress brought it to us. It has grass jelly in the bottom, shaved ice with condensed milk in the center, a layer of coconut, red bean on the top, and then topped off with a whole scoop of ice cream. If anyone is going to order this, I recomend you share it with a friend.

This place is pretty neat because they close at 2AM on weekends. So if any of you guys are ever bored just drive to tea station and order one of their many neat drinks.

This has always been my favorite boba drink shop. They give you a good mix and drink size at a great price. My particular favorite drink here is the Kiwi Strawberry blend with green apple jelly. They use artificial kiwi powder with real strawberries (preserved in syrup). $3.85 total. Don’t forget to stamp your frequent buyer card!

Mango Iced Tea

On our quest to seek out the ultimate refreshment, my friend took me to a well known tea place in Clairemont Mesa. The first thing to impress me was the size of the vacinity. There was a large, well-lite lounge along with an impressive library and book and movie rental area, well equipped with the lastest anime and asian movies. This joint also had it’s own photobooth! As my friend said, “It’s not corny, it’s culture.” It was also very odd that the bathrooms were located outside of the vacinity and customers had to request a key, sort of like a gas station. But enough about the environment, what I was really here for was the tea!

Tea ‘N’ More had the everyday tea variety (strawberry, lychee, passion fruit, mango, etc.), but you had the choice between green or black tea! The kind ladies suggested green tea with enthusiasm as I ordered my mango iced tea with mango jelly.

The first sip of the mango iced tea was quite delightful, although shockingly sweet. The sweetness was a bit much for my taste, but after the ice melted somewhat and diluted the drink, the tea was perfect. As I slurped to the very bottom of the plastic cup, I was suprised to see that the mango jelly was cut out in shape of STARS! This only added to my enjoyment of the tea (a good commercial move on their part).

Overall, Tea ‘N’ More has been the best tea house I’ve been too because of its comfort and abundance. The tea was like any other tea except for the novel touch of star jellies.

I give this one thumbs up!
