Sala Thai
Submitted by candice on Fri, 01/02/2009 - 2:20pm.I met a friend recently at her favorite Thai restaurant, Sala Thai, near SDSU. Their lunch specials are very affordable, around $5.95 and the place was packed with students and professionals. I was going to try something new but ended up getting one of my favorite Thai dishes, Pad See Ew. It was a cold day and Pad See Ew is a warm and comforting noodle dish. The mild, slightly sweet sauce made from soy sauce, sugar and perhaps oyster sauce(?) is mixed with flat rice noodles, broccoli and your choice of meat. Sala Thai’s version was fair but I prefer the Pad See Ew at Saffron on India.
Minh Ky Mi Gia
Submitted by lynn on Fri, 01/02/2009 - 11:05am.After I saw that DELICIOUS looking bowl of egg noodles from the other Minh Ky Mi Gia review, I have had a craving for noodles ever since. And I was finally satisfied with a visit on Saturday.
I ordered the Combination Wonton Egg Noodles Soup (4.95) and I was very happy with it. There were healthy greens like bok choy in the soup. The wontons were yummy with a piece of shrimp meat inside. I really liked the xa xiu (pork), which was completely meat rather than part fat. The only complaint was that the chicken was dry but I attribute that to being breast meat.
Saigon
Submitted by dennis on Thu, 01/01/2009 - 6:01pm.One of the places I love to eat in Eastside San Diego is Saigon on El Cajon Blvd. I’ve been to this restaurant with family and friends over the past few years and I’ve always walked out of here full, satisfied, and with a few bucks to spare in my wallet. whoo hoo!

The tostada and enchilada combo was Lynn’s meal. She had a craving for tostada and the combo seemed the best deal at the time. I believed she said the meal was okay but from the way she munched it down, I would think otherwise. Or perhaps she was just really hungry. =)
Carne Asada Chips (~$6.00)
