Rubicon Pizza Company
Submitted by cathytran on Sun, 08/30/2009 - 10:29am.I was visiting the Village at Northstar in Truckee (North Lake Tahoe) and as I walked by Rubicon Pizza Company, it smelled so good! Unfortunately, we weren't hungry at that time. A few days later, we ordered the Thai Red Chicken Curry Pizza to go. It was the most amazing pizza! So incredibly flavorful! I loved the sauce and the tiger prawns. This is my new favorite pizza ever! The pizza has "sweet curry sauce topped with crisp yellow bell peppers, fresh tomatoes, red onion and mascarpone cheese topped with fresh lime, basil and cilantro." You can also order it spicy.<

Enjoy some chips and salsa while you wait for your dinner…
Ceviche ($10) - First of all, I was surprised at the bountiful amount of shrimp that was hidden underneath the red onion, avocado, tomato, cilantro, and wedge of lime. This was delicious with the lime.
The Naked Fish

It has been disappointing to learn that several restaurants in the Lake Tahoe area do not offer their Happy Hour specials during the summer… but not The Naked Fish! Come Monday through Thursday (excluding holidays) from 5 to 6:30 pm.

Want to try some upscale small plates? The plates really are SMALL and it doesn’t come cheap. It’ll probably take about 3 small plates per person to satisfy your hunger.
Petrale Sole with Double the Lemon Buerre Blanc and Huckleberries ($14) - Doesn’t look very appetizing does it? I don’t remember what the fish tasted like, but I do remember thinking that the huckleberries added a nice fruity taste that went well with the sole.

Pan Fried Crab Cakes ($12.95) - Dungeness crab with smoky aioli and micro greens.
Portobella Mushroom Napolean ($18.95) - Grilled marinated portabellas with mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes, sauteed spinach and broiled tomatoes.
Lone Eagle Grille
Submitted by cathytran on Tue, 01/06/2009 - 10:27am.Across from the Hyatt Hotel, Lone Eagle Grille offers a beautiful view of Lake Tahoe. Window seating is limited, so try to call ahead for a reservation and ask for a table by the window. Their cuisine is described as “Northwest and wild game,” but you can still find some items for a less adventurous palate.
La Fondue
Submitted by cathytran on Sat, 01/03/2009 - 2:24pm.Happy New Year!!!
I spent winter break in Tahoe and had my birthday dinner at La Fondue. The reservations were for 5:30 pm, but upon entering the restaurant, I realized they were not necessary. There was only one other party there. It did pick up a little while we were there though. I imagine that they have more business during the warmer months, since there’s a large outdoor dining area.
