Ok, so… although I love the Cha Cha Cha in West Hollywood, it was not The Fast and the Furious Cha Cha Cha, so here we go again! Don’t worry though, this time we had brunch…

Mimosas were $5.50 each.

Jenn’s Mambo Passion ($6.25) - fresh seasonal fruit platter with passion fruit juice.

Lisa’s Huevos al Gusto ($6.50) with eggs sunnyside up, grilled chicken sausage, rice, salsa, beans, fruit, and plantains.

Hmm… Where to go after a beautiful wedding at the Neighborhood Church? We ended up at HT Grill in Redondo Beach for a late lunch before heading to the reception in Gardena.

Here’s what we ordered:
Waldorf Chicken Salad - Served with whole romaine leaves $10
The Redondo Lunch - Cup of soup with half Waldorf Chicken Sandwich & House Salad $9
Special Salad - Served with pieces of lobster $11

Malo

Malo is right… es muy mal… This place is so overpriced! The decor is nothing special and the food is served in meager portions.

Drinks: Oro Azul Blanco Margarita ($9), Pinot Grigio ($6), and Virgin Mojito ($4).  I ordered the Virgin Mojito because it sounded interesting… having mint leaves in it reminded me of Morocco’s national drink, the mint tea. Unfortunately, I didn’t like it. It was weird.

Mel’s Drive-In

Mel’s Drive-In as seen on TV! Yes, you may recognize this restaurant from “The Surreal Life” (at least my date did). I had been here a few years ago and met Scarlett Johansson and saw Lindsay Lohan sitting in her car in the parking lot. I thought I’d try my luck again after seeing Mylin at the Knitting Factory…

I believe this was my date’s Chocolate Milk Shake - thick and old-fashioned, featuring McGoo’s ice cream.

Sweet Lady Jane

Who doesn’t like a good dessert? I know I’m always on the lookout for something sweet to try. My cousin introduced me to Sweet Lady Jane. I’d put this place in the same category as Extraordinary Desserts. It offers a selection of cookies, cakes, and other sweets (which varies each day). They also have a wide selection of coffee and tea. It is very small and you’d be lucky to find a table. During their busiest times of the day, there is a maximum time that you are allowed to sit.

King’s Hawaiian Bakery & Restaurant

Have you ever tried King’s Hawaiian bread? Well, did you know you can have it warm and fresh at their restaurant?

We started off with some classic King’s Hawaiian Bread. Having it fresh was so much better than buying it at a supermarket. It was very soft.

Cafe Miaafe

For Bridget’s birthday, we walked from her apartment to Cafe Miaafe… just a few treacherous blocks. It was dark and we almost had a casualty ;) The atmosphere was awesome! We sat outside in a tent with the curtains drawn back. Inside, there is an art studio and gallery, but we didn’t have a chance to check it out. Maybe next time. The setting was so pretty with their tiny little lights, but it was cold.

S&W Country Diner

As a college kid, the first thing you should probably know before sitting down are the dreaded two words, “Cash Only.” But no worries, there’s a WaMu right across the street.

My friend and I went for breakfast on a Sunday morning but after I got ridiculously lost driving through South Central and Inglewood we didn’t get there until Noon-ish. Perfect; she got breakfast, I got lunch, you get the two different types of food up for review =)
