I met a friend recently at her favorite Thai restaurant, Sala Thai, near SDSU. Their lunch specials are very affordable, around $5.95 and the place was packed with students and professionals. I was going to try something new but ended up getting one of my favorite Thai dishes, Pad See Ew. It was a cold day and Pad See Ew is a warm and comforting noodle dish. The mild, slightly sweet sauce made from soy sauce, sugar and perhaps oyster sauce(?) is mixed with flat rice noodles, broccoli and your choice of meat. Sala Thai’s version was fair but I prefer the Pad See Ew at Saffron on India.

Oshi is a small korean restaurant off the corner of College Ave and Montezuma. Its pretty much the only decent asian food near SDSU and within walking distance. My friend goes there during lunch time to scope out the korean and japanese girls. I go there for food.

La Torta

I was at SDSU today and I decided to revisit an old restaurant I used to go to. Whats good to eat there? A super sized torta sandwich! In particular, the Super Natalia Torta ($7.75). It includes roast beef, turkey, ham, bacon, avocado, lettuce, tomato, american cheese, jalepeno, and a side of thin cut potato fries. Its approximately 4 inches high, 5 inches wide, and 6 inches long.

4.0 Deli

Today’s review is another one of my hang out spots next to SDSU. It’s a moderate sized restaurant thats right next to La Torta in the Aztec Shopping Center. They have sell basic deli type of sandwiches and some more expensive but really good gourmet “sandos” thats worth a try.

When the cashier asked me what I wanted to order, I told him “In Yo’ Face Sucka.” (thats what its really called!)
