Fuze (Mira Mesa) [closed]

Update: This location has closed.

We came out to try TACO TUESDAY at... *gasp* ... a korean restaurant!

FUZE recently opened on Mira Mesa boulevard near the Edwards theater area. The special of the night was $1.75 tacos and $2 off their appetizers. The tacos are not the cheapest compared to other places but the good news is that Fuze has a later happy hour with half off mixed souju until 8pm! So that night we ate and drank til we were full!

Fuze - Bulgogi Sliders

Bulgogi Sliders $8

I thought these were tasty. I'm always a fan of sliders with the sweeter roll plus delicious meat filled goodness. The green onion fillings also went well with the dish. As for the fries, they were on the extra crispy side. I'm not sure if that is the norm but since they weren't that great, I ate them as fillers.

Fuze - Kimchi Quesadilla

Kimchi Quesadilla $8

I'm not a kimchi fan so I only had a sample. The kimchi flavor wasn't too strong but it had enough spice that I didn't want to eat more. Dennis thought it was unique, especially the wasabi sauce drizzled over it but he still preferred the tacos more.

Fuze - Pork Tacos and Bulgogi Tacos

Pork Tacos and Bulgogi taco - $1.75 each

On to the main reason we came out tonight... tacos! The first two tacos up were the pork and bulgogi tacos, one of each for me and Dennis! Out of the two, I liked the bulgogi ones a little more since the pork had some  kick to it. The bulgogi was more like the typical meat you get at korean restaurants so it was yummy but not special.

Fuze - Pork Belly Tacos and Kalbi Tacos

Pork Belly Taco and Galbi Taco - $1.75 each

On to our last two tacos! The nice thing about the pork belly tacos was the pico de gallo type of topping on the taco. It was a very refreshing, difference from all the other tacos but the meat fell a little flat for me. I am not sure if I could taste it... In the end, everyone's favorite was the galbi taco. The thicker meat and seasoning always seems to be better when I have galbi. I would exclusively order galbi tacos on our next visit (which happened a week later!)

This place is a very chill environment to hang out with friends and currently isn't too busy. We like the close-to-home location and the drink specials. Just make sure you know your limits before ordering one too many alcoholic drinks!

The prices are higher than other Taco Tuesdays, but I must say it looks worth it!
