One of Barona Resort & Casino's newest eateries is Seafood Plaza.  It is across from the food court and down the escalators.  This area has been remodeled.  It used to be a bingo hall.  There are two other restaurants: Italian Cucina and the soon-to-be new Barona Oaks Steakhouse.  I like this area because it was definitely more quiet than the rest of the casino.

After we ordered, one of the servers brought out a bowl of complimentary Edamame for us to munch on while we were waiting for our meal.

I wanted to try the BBQ Seafood Skewer ($9.95) - shrimp and monkfish with a spicy pineapple chipotle glaze.  I had asked if it only came with one skewer since the name indicated singular.  Our server said that there were two skewers with a little bit of rice and some greens.  When the dish came out, yes, there were two skewers, but they were half of what I was expecting, so to me, it was only really one skewer.  And when she said little bit of rice, she meant it!  It was sushi rice (with a little vinegar).  The skewers and rice were good, but the greens had very little flavor.

The Blackjack Sushi Roll ($14.95) - lobster, avovado, black rice, carrots, and little green sprouts? - was a major disappointment.  We had seen the roll on the online menu (which is different than the one in the restaurant).  We were intrigued with the "forbidden" black rice, having never eaten it before.  It did not taste good.  The texture was more like oats.  The slivers of carrot were too crunchy for the roll.  I will not be ordering this again.

Next up, the Blazing 7 Sushi Roll ($14.00) - Ahi, shrimp, eel, salmon, yellowtail, krab, and avocado.  (Most of you may know this as a Rainbow Roll.)  This was absolutely delicious compared to the Blackjack Sushi Roll.

With the bill came a 2-for-1 coupon for our next visit to the Seafood Plaza or the Italian Cucina.  The service was fine, but we will probably not be returning.  I definitely want to try the Italian Cucina though.  For many, the value of the buffet is probably more appealing and I wouldn't blame them.  For about $21 (cheaper with your Club Barona card), you can pick from a variety of good food...  Good luck!
