We like a drink when we go out. Our drinks of choice are made with spirits. I love the girlie drinks (Taste N Tinis is one of my fav events) while Dennis loves the whiskey and tequila drinks... though I often take a sip or more. To each their own.

We also happen to have a well stocked bar at home, which turned out to be perfect for a package I received in the mail...

Such a pretty package for a book review made me giddy with excitement! Look at those red striped straws on the side!

On Saturday, April 18 from noon to 4:00 p.m., San Diego’s most fabulous neighborhood will bring together some of the best chefs and cuisines for food connoisseurs to experience on a self-guided culinary tour.

From cafes to bistros to five-star dining, Taste of Hillcrest will feature more than 40 restaurants and span more 12 blocks. Participants can treat their taste-buds to foods from all over the world including Italy, Mexico, Middle East, Asia and American favorites. Peruse the streets and take in the sights and sounds of Hillcrest, while selecting from fresh seafood, sushi, spicy Thai, delicious pastas and feel-good classics during the tastiest event this season.

McDonalds is everywhere. But most don't have THIS. We were invited to try out their new Build Your Burger concept. Only four McD stores in the US currently offer this, two in San Diego and two in Orange County! The concept isn't new but the kiosk implementation is where it's breaking some ground in the fast food industry.

So THIS is the inside of the McDonalds on 3805 Midway Drive in San Diego. Huh? Are we in the right place? Yep, it was remodeled a couple of years ago. Wow, actually kinda impressed. There's no more playpen though!

On Friday, we dined out at Del Mar Rendezvous. It's a beautiful restaurant with modern dark wood tones, asian inspiration, and an extensive wine rack of which we partook later for dinner! Both the Manager Dan and Chef Tony have worked hard to continually make improvements in the experience as well as the food which has won them "best chinese" from San Diego Magazine for the past three years. One big selling point is that they have a separate vegetarian/vegan menu as well as a gluten-free menu, both with over 40 items to choose from, including gluten-free beer! It's fantastic that they are catering to more diners AND it is delicious!
