Across from the Hyatt Hotel, Lone Eagle Grille offers a beautiful view of Lake Tahoe. Window seating is limited, so try to call ahead for a reservation and ask for a table by the window. Their cuisine is described as “Northwest and wild game,” but you can still find some items for a less adventurous palate.
I ordered the Grilled Chicken Sandwich, Wild Boar Bacon, Cheddar Cheese, Chive Mayonnaise, Fried Onions ($16). I asked for the wild boar bacon on the side since I wasn’t going to try it, but thought that one of my fellow diners might. The sandwich was pretty good, but with the extremely thick bread, the sandwich was very high. I was only able to eat half of it. The bread gets tough the next day and isn't as good.
D dined on Beef Tenderloin and Lobster Salad, Baby Greens, Avocado, Madeira Sauce ($28) and said the lobster salad was lacking lobster…
C enjoyed Pan Seared Scallops, Spinach, Belgian Endive, Saffron Pears, Toasted Pecans, Sun-Dried Cranberries, Gorgonzola, Port Wine Vinaigrette ($19). Just look at the jumbo scallops!
Decadent Chocolate Sampler ($10) - We had a very long wait for our lunch, so our server offered us a complimentary dessert. All of the desserts were $10. The sampler called out to us. On the left, the chocolate molten cake was warm, but I was expecting oozing chocolate from the middle. The chocolate gelato was delicious and the table favorite of the trio. The chocolate mousse was covered in a layer of chocolate and topped with sugar strands.
This was a very nice New Year’s Eve lunch. Even though we didn’t get a table by the window, we could still see the lake and it was a beautiful view. Our server was also from San Diego and was extremely nice. This is a good place for a special occassion dinner!
