With only a few giftcards remaining from my San Diego Burger Week adventure, we made our way into Gaslamp Tavern. This downtown sportsbar has been open for over 10 years and also owns the upstairs Quad Alehouse "beer study hall". I believe our giftcard worked for both places but the upper floor was closed that night. We proceeded with the downtstairs Gaslamp Tavern menu.
For Taco Tuesday, you can order tacos for $2.50 each rather than the standard plate of three (single flavor) for $10.
Last weekend, we had the opportunity to check out the Chocolate Decadence Event at Pechanga Resort and Casino. The festival offered chocolates and pastries as well as a sampling of wines, domestic sparkling wines, champagnes, spirits and dessert wines.
The event was held on Friday, March 9th from 7-10pm in the newly expanded section of Pechanga Resort. VIP tickets sold for $80, general admission for $60, and designated driver for $35, plus additional discounts for club card holders.
It already feels like summer in sunny San Diego, and brunch by the beach was in our weekend plans. We dropped by Duck Dive for some Sunday eats and found the place to be jam packed! It's no surprise how much San Diegans love spending time by the beautiful waters and they sure get hungry!
It's been too long since I've had BBQ and I think fate led me to Coaster Saloon. I had met a friend at Sandbar for TacoManiaSD and on our way out, noticed yellow painted signs advertising barbecue, smoked, low & slow.
I snuck a peek through the patio's large glass windows and immediately spotted green hair! It was Mercy from Baron's BBQ Beat at what else... a barbecue spot! I found the timing crazy because this was only my second visit to Mission Beach, the nearby Sandbar was selected over other taco options, AND Mercy happened to be within my line of sight!
This year is rolling by quickly! I've been super busy with work and Dennis has been doing the cooking lately. It's so relaxing to come home to a warm meal! Let's kick off this edition of What I Ate Wednesday with my favorite hubby-made meals! Check out Laura's post for the full linkup to What I Ate Wednesday (via Peas & Crayons)
Casinos are well known for their extensive buffets. Pechanga Resort & Casino just stepped it up another notch with their Lobster & Seafood Extravaganza on Thursday nights. The main draw is the one-and-one-quarter pound whole Maine lobster done in an East Coast lobster bake style with roasted potatoes and corn on the cob. The limit is ONE at a time, but once you finish, you can grab yourself another!
Mardi Gras is celebrated in many ways, from living it up with the true New Orleans experience, partying with friends locally, or just partaking in good 'ol Lousiana style food! Our preferred way is the last...
Over the weekend, we attended the Gaslamp Mardi Gras Beads, Bites and Booze Tour. This tour provides ticket holders an opportunity to enjoy bites and sips at various businesses in the gaslamp. Tickets for this event were $25 pre-sale or $30 day of with Will-Call located at Florent Restaurant.
At each participating location, they mark off your ticket in exchange for the food and drink samples...
Brunch is always a welcome weekend meal in our busy schedules. We reveled in West Coast Tavern's menu last month during a media invite! We already knew this spot for their famous mule pitchers and the occasional Taste events, but now the brunch impressed us as well! Located one block west of 30th St and University Ave, it was also a chance to visit our favorite neighborhood of North Park, considering how often we write about this area!
Late lunch at 2pm on Sunday gave us a chance to fit our morning bike ride in as well as preparing a hefty appetite! The sun was on the opposite side of the building so there was shady comfort plus natural lighting in the patio. Service manager Estaban and waitress Nicole suggested a few items off the menu while we pondered what food / drink mood we were in!
