Luc's Bistro (updated as of 06.04.09)

Luc's Bistro is a gem hidden away in Poway.  They use fresh ingredients to prepare Southern favorites at affordable prices.

We started off with French Fries with Truffle Oil & Parmesan ($3).  It was a hit with my group.  They liked the hint of parmesan.

Sweet Lumpy's BBQ

I can't remember when I first heard about Sweet Lumpy's BBQ, but I've done the drive (about 50 miles) to Temecula twice for their delicious food.  It's that good.

Their BBQ is slow cooked at low temperatures.  The BBQ sauces (original and spicy) are old family recipes.  I ordered the BBQ Chicken Sandwich ($6) and the chicken was really tender.  It tastes great with their sweet, original BBQ sauce.  The sandwich comes with fresh-cut fries, which are also good!  Really good with the BBQ sauce.

Crab Hut

One of my favorite places to eat is the Crab Hut, especially on Saturday nights because of the fun atmosphere, but beware of a long wait during peak hours.

What's fun is peeling and eating shrimp with your bare hands.  They also offer lots of other seafood choices (such as crab, crawfish, calamari, and catfish) along with appetizers, side dishes, desserts, and drinks.

Yogurt Swirl

It used to be that I would travel to a faraway land called Convoy for frozen yogurt, but not anymore.  Mira Mesa now has several of its own self-serve yogurt shops and Yogurt Swirl is one of the cutest!

If you haven't been to a self-serve yogurt shop before, here's the procedure:

1. Get a cup (there's usually 2 sizes available)

2. Fill it with however much yogurt you want, however you want it (just one flavor, all the flavors...)

3. Sprinkle whatever toppings you want on your frozen yogurt

4. Weigh and pay
