Taste of North Park 2018 - highlights

We've always enjoyed food events and Taste of North Park is no exception. Heck, we've visited in 2017,  2015, 2014, etc so we are constantly revisiting to see what's new in the area! This year's event was on October 13 between 11am - 3pm. There were separate $20 beer and $40 food tickets, as well as a combined beer/food ticket for $50. My brother joined us for this crawl and we were all eager to eat and drink!

Tribute Pizza focaccia at Taste of North Park

Each location is assigned a number and they mark off the corresponding number on your ticket. There was a separate section for food and drinks. For example, Tribute Pizza sampled their focaccia bread along with choice of oil/vinegar or marinara dip.

Tribute Pizza at Taste of North Park

This shot at Tribute Pizza was pretty nifty... fresh out of the bread oven!

Mr Moto Pizza and Waypoint Public samples at Taste of North Park

There's unique murals all over the place such as this electric box art. Halloween was on my brain because I was thinking that even the monsters want a bite of this! We've recently visited Mr. Moto Pizza House in Point Loma and apparently they have a location in North Park too! Waypoint Public's pulled pork mac & cheese was one of the tastiest sample within our first hour!

Urban Solace at Taste of North Park

A creative food spin was the pork belly beignet from Urban Solace. Look at that luscious filling! Pass me another please!

Florencias at Taste of North Park

I remember the wood grain look of the tables from Florencia last year! Their best sample was delicious, cheesy stuffed, carb-loaded goodness bread.

Naked Juice reps to fill your cart for good at Taste of North Park

Surprisingly, Naked Juice had a booth at this event. They offered us a free juice and snack bar, then helped us record a boomerange video. We posted it online with #FillYourCartForGood and the company will donate to fight hunger for every post! I later saw that it was related to a "shopping cart" dance! Fun stuff.

Burrology at Taste of North Park

Here's a new spot we found during the taste: Burrology! They sampled this street taco and gave us a $2 off signature burrito coupon!

El Comal at Taste of North Park

El Comal served this chicken verde type item (not sure what it was called).

Hammonds Ice Cream at Taste of North Park

Hammond's Ice Cream cheers! I believe one was chai tea and the other maybe vanilla with a mix-in? Mine (right side) was delicious though!

Mastiff sausage at Taste of North Park

By the time we got to Mastiff Sausage, our card was almost halfway filled! I devoured these sausages, enjoying the bite of the mustard sauce that accompanied it.

Bivouac Ciderworks at Taste of North Park

Another favorite bite was this slow roasted lamb on butternut squash polenta from Bivouac Cider. Way to use in season vegetables! I love Fall options!

Streetcar Merchant at Taste of North Park

Tiny chicken bites from Streetcar Merchants of Chicken. One is Nashville while the other is regular flavor.

Redwing Bar and Grill at Taste of North Park

It doesn't look like much but WOW, this shortrib slider had it going on! Redwing Bar & Grill really knows how to work the sliders!

Shank and Bone at Taste of North Park

I've been SOOOO curious about Shank & Bone, which is priced much higher than the Vietnamese food I'm used to. They sampled a mini cup of pho (Vietnamese noodle soup) and OMG that broth was so delicious! I wanted my own bowl right then and there! We'll have to come back soon!

Tamarindo at Taste of North Park

Tamarindo Latin Kitchen has a fun brunch menu and we were able to sample a taco this time.

Revive Kombucha at Taste of North Park

Dennis's first drink stop was for Revive Kombucha, one of the non-alcoholic drink samples. I met up with them afterwards so didn't have a chance to try this one.

Beer samples at Taste of North Park

We dropped into several boutiques and businesses for alcohol. We probably hit about 5-6 beer spots out of the ~20 available. I thought this pic from Heights Optometry turned out interesting!

Holsom Coffee at Taste of North Park

Holsem Coffee was along the way to our car and I almost didn't stop in because we don't drink coffee. I decided to ask if they served anything else and we were able to taste their refreshing teas! A great end of the adventure stop. It was time to head home and take an afternoon nap! Until next time!
