In celebration of San Diego's Bike to Work Day, I'm posting about Wich Addiction in Mira Mesa, which offered a free breakfast sandwich to commuters this morning. Free breakfast sandwich? Why yes please! Radio station KPRI also handed out a free Del Mar Fair ticket so more incentives to get my bike out into the daylight. I actually have today off but rode a total of 9 miles with Dennis in the spirit of things. This girl survived the trek and it felt great!
Prior to today, we've visited several times. On our first visit, Dennis ordered the New England Style Spicy Tuna. This sandwich has sashimi style tuna that came out in little cubes! It's got this interesting sriracha aioli which made it a little spicier than what I prefer (which is hardly anything), but keeps it unique. The addition of cool cucumber cubes and the furikaki seasoning keeps the sandwich feeling fresh as well. The bread here is toasted with a bit of crunchy crust and keeps the sandwich together well. The potato salad seemed very mayo-like and a bit on the firmer potato side.
We also tried the Three Pork Sandwich here. After my first bite, I was a bit turned off by the overload of mayo. It was squeezing out with every bite, maybe to counter a potentially dry sandwich? After scraping some off, I was able to get into the yummy meat of things! The pork chop portion was pretty thin, about two pieces overlapping, then there were slices of bacon on it and also some pork brisket like stuff. This combination was so filling! I chose the salad on the side which was simply dressed with olive oil vinagrette although quite a bit for a small amount of greens.
On another visit, Dennis was in the mood for a sandwich and ordered the Jumbo Shrimp Poboy. There were four huge battered shrimp which were tastily fried without being greasy. Of course even MORE shrimp would never hurt! Our side for this dish was the italian pasta salad, which was basked in an italian dressing and simple indeed.
I wanted eggs so the Fried Chicken Ben-Addiction hit the spot for me. I loved the combination of the fried skin with the buttered english muffin and two ready to pop eggy delights under hollandaise sauce. I think I'm just a huge fan of fried chicken these days (like the Cluckmoo) and would totally order this again!
A coworker of mine was raving about a special item which is only available the last week of the month... the Poutine! We took a longer lunch one day just to drive to Mira Mesa for this! I enjoyed the crispiness of the fries and the ox-tail meat on top was tender and delicious! I would share this plate because that's a lot of food, at least for me!
I ordered the Chimichurri Steak sandwich. The meat is seared on the outside and rarer on the inside. It's the same sandwich bread as the others but has a tantalizing chimichurri sauce that pairs brilliantly with the steak meat. Those two just belong together! And it belongs in my belly!
For those of you who find yourself here a lot, there's this crazy membership thing where you sign up and get a stamp for each different sandwich that you try. If you eat everything on the menu, you get your mug shot, complete with a identification sign that says you're addicted to this place. In this picture, I believe there's less than 20 people posted! Should Oh-SoYummy join this club?
Wich Addiction is a bustling lunch spot on the Mira Mesa Boulevard and it keeps people coming back. I would order any of the last three items in a heartbeat but there's still more tempting items to try on the menu! Until next time, Wich Addiction!
