Spirits of Mexico 2012 Tequila Trail Cointreau Cocktail Competition recipes

We attended the Spirits of Mexico 2012 Tequila Trail this year and were able to try a couple of drinks made for the Cointreau Cocktail Challenge!

We've provided the recipes below in order of the rounds! Find your favorite or try something new! Enjoy!

Cointreau Cocktail Challenge at Tequila Trail 2012

Round 1

Barra Barra Saloon - Corazon Morado

  • 3/4 oz Muerto Blanco tequila
  • 1/4 oz Cointreau
  • 1/2 oz Chambord
  • 1/2 oz Frangelico
  • 4 oz milk

Casa de Reyes - Cointreau Sweet Tart

  • 2 oz El Jimador Blanco
  • 3/4 oz Simple Syrup
  • 1 oz Chambord
  • 1/4 oz Cointreau
  • Fresh Lemon Juice
  • Fresh Mint

Casa Guadalajara - Milagro Cosmo

  • 1.5 oz Milagro
  • 1/2 oz Cointreau
  • 3 oz Cranberry Juice
  • 1 oz Lime Juice

Rockin' Baja Cantina - Spicy Scorpion

Fill mixing tin with ice, then

  • 1 1/2 oz Scorpion Mezcal
  • 1/2 oz Cointreau
  • 2 Egg Whites
  • 1 dash of Lime Juice
  • Fill with Sweet and Sour

Shake, pour into glass

Round 2

Cafe Coyote - Chipotle Pineapple Paloma

  • 1 1/4 oz Azunia Blanco
  • 1/2 oz Cointreau
  • Splash of Grapefruit
  • Splash of Pineapple Juice
  • Topped off with 3/4 oz of Chipotle Pineapple Simple Syrup
  • Squeeze a Lemon wedge over the top.
  • Pineapple wedge (garnish)

El Fandango - Fandango Cucaracha

  • 1/2 oz El Capote Charro
  • 1/2 oz Kahlua
  • 1/2 oz Cointreau

In a rocks glass, add tequila, then Kahlua, then Cointreau

La Pinata - Mayan Nectar

  • 1 1/2 oz Apocalypto Blanco
  • 1/4 oz Agave Nectar
  • 3/4 oz Cointreau
  • 2 oz Pomegranate Juice
  • 2 oz Sweet and Sour

Cosmopolitan Hotel - B-Side Cocktail

  • 2 oz regional Anejo
  • 3/4 oz Cointreau
  • 2 slices of Blood Orange
  • 1 tsp Brown Sugar
  • 8 Mint Tops
  • 2 dashes of Chocolate Bitters
  • Splash of Orange Juice

Muddle Minto Tops, Brown Sugar, Bitters and Orange. Add remaining ingredients, shake and strain into a glass over ice

Round 3

Miguel's Cocina - Cointreau Skinny

  • 1.75 oz Herradura Silver
  • .75 oz Cointreau
  • 1 oz Agave
  • fill with Lime Juice
  • 12 oz bucket glass

Alamo Mexican Cafe - Sky Blue Arta Rita

  • 4 count Arta Repasado
  • 6 count Sweet and Sour
  • 2 count Cointreau
  • 2 count 7up
  • Shake w/Lime & Orange Slice
  • 1 count Blue Float Curacao

Old Town Mexican Cafe - Pura Vida Sunset

  • 1.5 oz Pura Vida
  • 1/2 oz Cointreau
  • 3 oz Orange Juice
  • Splash Grenadine

Fred's Mexican Cafe - Angel's Spicy Margarita

Muddle Jalapenos and shot of Vanilla Vodka together; pour into Sugared or Salted margarita glass. Create regular margarita with Gran Centranario (3 count), Cointreau (6 count) and a splash of Sweet and Sour to taste, hand shaken on the rocks. Pour over muddled Jalapenos.
