A couple weekends ago we drove down to Puerto Nuevo for lunch and to celebrate a friend’s birthday. Local lobster season just ended a few days ago but the restaurants in Puerto Nuevo serve them year-round. There are lots of places in the neighborhood to choose from but we went with Ortega’s Patio, one of the nicer spots, with a beautiful ocean view patio. They started us off with piping hot chips and two kinds of salsa.

Continuing the Santa Barbara adventure… Andersen’s is a Danish restaurant and bakery, which has been serving Santa Barbara for over 30 years. We were walking down State Street looking for a place to have dinner. A waiter came out with a dessert tray and he was presenting it to some customers who were seated outside. Right then and there, I knew we had to come back for dessert!

When I’m travelling, I love visiting different markets and grocery stores to see what kind of selection other cities get. I found heaven at Fairway Market in NYC. There are a few of these markets in the city and one branch even has a gourmet cafe and steakhouse. Fairway seems like a cross between Henry’s and Whole Foods. Tons of really fresh produce mixed with a huge assortment of prepared and gourmet items. I wished that I’d had a kitchen to use so that I could have shopped and cooked! I am obsessed with olives and cheese so I literally gasped in delight when I saw this.

I was looking for some new place to eat thats close to work and i found Frankie’s Italian Deli. They got this lunch special from 11am to 3pm that combos their sandwiches, pizzas, and salads. I decided to try out the meatball sandwich and salad combo ($6.50).
